New Cast & Pulling Up

Katie had her follow-up appointment at the cast clinic last week - Thurs Nov 19. The xrays showed that all is healing well with lots of new bones growth. That meant that she got a new below knee cast. She had figured out to walkon the old cast on Nov 6 and was cruising around but there was still a great deal she couldn't do because of being unable to flex or extend her knee. This new cast means she is doing pretty much everything she could do without a cast...except swim and skate but that won't be long now. Her next (and last) appointment in Dec 10 and she should then be cast free!
Pretty in pink!
Liam was also seen by the orthopod when Katie had her first checkup Nov 5. He has never liked to stand or weightbear on his legs and we were concerned about club feet. Dr. Kiefer felt that his feet were developing normally at this time but said that it is tough to tell under 12 months. He said not to worry about the weight bearing, it will come. And it did - on Sunday the 8th we found him standing for the first time in the playpen - when he was supposed to be napping of course! He is now pulling himself up on everything he can, causing his sister great grief as her toys are not safe anywhere. On the other hand she is also enjoying it and trying to teach him to climb the stairs, much to my dismay! He has managed to climb up one stair, once, but we have greatly discouraged any further climbing! He is still doing the army crawl but now crawls with purpose! The poor dogs can't eat in peace and can only access their water bowl for short intervals while he is asleep or contained somewhere! The Christmas tree should be a great deal of fun this year!

Looking way up...

Oh that's what you're looking at!

Why not Momma?

Okay I'll take the camera instead

Using the coffee table - this used to be a save place for Katie's toys but not anymore!

Using the chair - and he uses the shelf in the background (with the games on it)

Back at the stairs

trying to gracefully set himself down

little help from sissy is always good:)
