Main Bathroom Update

We decided it was time to start making our house a home instead of just living in it as it was when we bought it...1st up the main bathroom. At this point everything is cosmetic as that is what the budget affords. This room was small enough to start with, but was still a challenge as it is the children's bathroom as well as the main bath for visitors and overnight company so we wanted it to be fun but not scream KIDS. It turned out to be a project that required a bit more than the paint we anticipated. Now it is fresh and bright and will certainly do until we can gut the room and make it our dream bath.

I found the fun, but not too busy and bright, animal themed shower curtain that worked great with the yellow paint I had previously bought for another room, and it worked with the red accents we already had in the bathroom.

We didn't have an electrical outlet in the bathroom. When we took the mirror down to paint we found it behind the mirror. In order to make it accessible we had to turn the mirror vertically, which required moving the light up about 4 inches...nothing major but still more than just paint. Bryan installed the GFI and we are set to blow dry hair! The wood cupboards were dark and dated so we sanded off the finish and whitewashed them to maintain the wood but lighten them up. I like the effect but not sure if I like it with the marble tile, it feels a bit busy so they may yet end up painted white as the marble top isn't going anywhere any time soon.

We took out the old blackout blind that was in the window and replaced it with one that will let in some light and give privacy as our BBQ and patio table live outside this window. I still have to find something to go on the wall above the toilet so it doesn't look so bare.

love the updates! By the way, the first thing I thought of when I saw your whitewashed cupboards was belgian chocolate...weird, right? The brown/white combo...or...maybe I just need a chocolate fix.
