That white line between the top of the caragana bushes and the roof of the barn is SNOW! That is the snow drift!
Very greatful for our "little" tractor
Afer 2.5 days of blizzard conditions, a combined 4 days of missed work, and some serious cabin fever, we had to dig ourselves out of our house, literally. We started at 9am, me with a shovel at the front door and Bryan in the shop doorway with the snow blower (thankfully he had left it there after clearing the pond over Christmas). By 10am my efforts were an exercise in futility as Bryan had the tractor out, so I went back in to warm up. After lunch Grammy & I bundled the kids up and took them out to burn off some energy and clear the snow left in front of the garage. Admittedly Grammy did most of the shovelling while I kept the kids out of trouble, climbing the massive snow drifts. By 1pm we could get the vehicles out of the garage...we were free! It still took Bryan until about 5pm to finish clearing snow so that we can safely get around on the property and access the shop etc. He had some serious fun! The upside to all this snow, it will be great for the garden come melt time in the spring! And we have a new respect for country living in the winter.
This is our veggie garden in the summer time - note the snow bank compared to the dog...the kids, dogs and I had fun climbing it!
The same snow bank from another angle...that is our garden shed. Funny how the chairs have practically nothing on them!
The biggest snow bank after our neighbor across the road broke through it in his massive tractor. He is very kind and helpful, unforuntately his tractor is too big to fit in our driveway, so he couldn't help us much.
