We were off to Elkford for a weekend with our great friends, the Smiths, this past weekend. As always, we enoyed their great hospitality and we left relaxed & content, craving our own little piece of property away fromt he hustle & bustle of the city..... one day.....
Taste of Fernie
Vaness & I took the kiddos to Fernie for the market & "Taste of Fernie". It was a lovely afternoon, with many interesting booths, some tasty food & delicious choclates from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate company. While we were enjoying out afternoon "in town", the boys spent it fly fishing, attempting a catch for our "seafood" dinner - I guess the river salmon didn't want to be associated with the cod, scallops, & crab that were already on the menu - the boys were unsuccessful in catching anything worth bringing home. We did have a great (coming from someone who doens't like seafood) dinner - Bryan was the master chef & Vanessa his assistant & they turned out quite the meal. Jay's aprents enjoye dit so much that they had more when they went home at 11pm (they took all the left overs) & John was making a cod sandwich for lunch when we stoppe din on our way out of town Sunday!
Katie had her face painted for the first time at the "Taste of Fernie" - a little Kitty cat of course (it is quick & easy - requirements for painting the face of an 11 month old). She did really well, sat in Momma's lap and was very patient with the young girl who did the painting. Brock was also a Cat and they looked VERY cute together. Amazing since neither of them had had a nap to that point in the day & it was 2pm!

Tub Time
Katie & Brock enjoyed playing in the tub together before bed time each night. Brock was very helpful - as he is a BIG boy now - he helped wash Katie's back & hair. They really had lots of fun. Brock even wanted Katie to sleep in his big boy bed with him but she's not quite ready for that yet.

First you wash your back...
....then your hair Lessons in Sharing Toys
Katie enjoyed the rocking horse that Daddy made for Brock for Christmas last year - it is of course too big for her to climb up on but with a little help she got up & LOVES rocking. Brock has a huge playroom with lots of toys - it is a favorite place for play groups for all of Brock's friends. Sometimes the hardest decision was what to play with! As usual - they often wanted to play with the same toys but did very well with sharing.
Daddy, it's time to make one for me - Christmas is coming!
Hmmm.... now which toy do I want to try out??
It was a great weekend, thanks to Jason, Vanessa & Brock for having us!
