June 17 - 8 months old

Katie is now 8 months old!!!

Happy June everyone,

So it is now June and yesturday I was 8 months old.

This month has brought some nice weather, and some not so nice. We have spent lots of time outdoors when it's been nice, walking, playing in the yard, swinging on the swings and gardening. I love to be outside and the cold rainy weather we've had for the last two weeks has made me a little sad. However, that cold rainy weather has also meant that I have been very busy supervising Momma & Dadda while they renovate our house. I've helped them paint, put in some nice hard wood & tile and put in a walk through to the basement suite so that I now have a nice big place to play (and Momma & Dadda have some nice adult space upstairs that is not full of toys).

In the midst of all this I have begun to say Momma & Dadda, to repeat sounds and gestures (love to slap the table to a rhythm). I bable constantly and thoroughly enjoy sqealing in public places just to make Mommas hair stand on end:) I'm learning to clap my hands and give kisses. I have almost perfected waving hi & bye but am selective as to who I will wave for. I am also becoming very good at letting people know when I am not happy about things - like having a toy or other object taken away. Momma is pretty harsh though - no matter how much I yell and cry she won't give the object back!

I've had some really great Daddy time this month as Momma went away for 2 weekends - in a row! The first one happend on a whim - a last minute invite for a girls weekend scrapbooking in Pincher Creek - while Momma was having a great time away Daddy & I spent a fun weekend at home playing and working around the house (mostly playing though). That weekend I had cow's milk for the first time & I really like it. The next weekend Momma went to Banff for a night with her friend for a "baby free" getaway. I took care of Daddy who was feeling under the weather, but we did manage to go out for a while & get me a bike helmet - if only it would stop raining long enough to use it:( Then Momma came home to both Dadda & I sick. It was a rough week with little sleep and lots of cuddles and I am finally starting to feel better.

On the crawling front - still no actual crawling but I am moving around quite well. I have learned how to track Momma down in other rooms, and how to get around to reach things I want. Momma & Dadda are teaching me to stand up - mostly holding onto the crib rails at this point and I do really well, I can even lower myself to sitting quite well. Still not pulling myself up yet - that will come as I am reaching up onto furniture just haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

Have a great month,
Love Katie xoxoxo
