Last weekend we took off to Lake louise/Banff for a little (much needed) get away. We took in the Ice Magic Festival in LL - picnic lunch, the ice carvings, skating, sledding and fun with friends (the Moores). Thankfully the weather held, and despite a little snow, it was quiet warm in the mountains for January. Afterwards we headed to Douglas Fir Resort in Banff for a night in the pool and playzone (I have no pictures), dinner and curling up in front o the fireplace , a repeat performance of the pool and playzone in the morning and then lunch in Bragg Creek on the way home. It was great weekend, thanks Moore Family for joining in our fun!
The little snow monsters - Liam, Katie, Caleb, Tristan and Rachel
Katie and the Ice Princess - she was just in awe and followed the princess all around!
Little Miss Rachel
An ice carver, the actual competition was the previous weekend but there was this demonstration
A sample of the carvings - something to do with the Sun
A Snowman in a frying pan, over the fire - Trouble
Sledding
Tristan and Liam's turn
Family portrait by the ice castle - note we are not generally neglectful parents but I packed the wrong (new) helmet for Katie and it would not fit, so we allowed her to skate, this once, without it.
So proud of herself, she has really come a long way with her skating this winter, the lessons paid off in giving her confidence!
An attempt at a picture of the three of them by the Ice castle
Katie in action
Liam catching a ride - he actually did great on his skates, with nothing to hold on too, but the little guys get tired.
Tristan bundled like a snowman - he is not so fond of winter but still had a good time
Catching a lift back to the car with Daddy, and a snowflake snack along the way.
