Hi All,
Wow, it is September again and we are about to get into the full swing of fall activities. This also means that Liam is now 7 months old (boo hoo)!! I have to admit, this makes me sad. I feel like I've been in a bit of a funk the last few days, realizing that my baby is closer to 1 now than a newborn, that I am closer to going back to work than the time I've already been off. And the next few months will undoubtedly go by too fast.
Katie started playschool yesturday - can you believe she is 3 next month?? She LOVED play school and did so well. It is 2 hours on Wed mornings. I really wanted her to go into an unparented program - she has been ready since the spring, but the cost of preschool is too much, they wouldn't let her start until her birthday & it is a full year commitment that I couldn't commit to with my work schedule. It was harder for me to leave her that it was for her to see me go. Her teacher, Miss Elaine, said she did wonderfully & she can't wait to go back next week. She also starts ballet & tap next week - she is dying to go to her "dance studio". It is 45min once a week, just a block away. I'll send a picture of her all dressed up next week - she'll be pretty darn cute I am sure! She just finished up gym & swim - in 4 weeks she grew in her swim skills by leaps and bounds, doing bobs, jumping off the side of the pool completely unassisted and doing great front & back floats. Unfortunately they won't let her do unparented swim until after her birthday so we are taking a break for the fall - besides dance & playschool are enough for any little person.
Liam Liam - well he has 2 teeth now, says "mummummum" and "bababa", he is sitting totally on his own, dragging himself around on the floor, blows raspberries and is devouring his solid foods. He & I start swimming lessons together next week, which we are doing with friends for added fun. We love his calm, laid back, go-with-the-flow nature. And his little laugh can just make your heart melt!
Grammy Mo is visiting and Katie is loving their time together. We've been to the corn maze & Grammy and Auntie Bev took her to Heritage Park. Uncle Brad & Lou arrive this weekend for a Mouland fam reunion of sorts. Then next weekend Grandma is out for a couple days.
Bryan is full on at work, enjoying another year at William Taylor (his 6th), but already counting down to his October holidays - mainly because it will be a big hunting trip for him. I am keeping too busy with doula clients (x2) in Sept and 1 in October. I am working on a big project for Elizabeth House, a home for pregnant and parenting teens - I will be doing staff and resident training/info sessions regarding post partum mood disorders, and doing prenatal/postpartum screening for all interested residents. The risk and incidence of PPDs in teenage mothers is much higher that the average mother and they have had little to no support in this area at EH. It is an amazing opportunity for me to give back to the community, but it is a great deal of work to get it off the ground. We are hoping to get in one more camping trip before the weather gets too cold, but that is dependant upon when babies arrive as I am tied to the cell phone until they do. As hard as being on call can be at times I am really enjoying working with these couples, teaching them about labour and birth and supporting them in their journeys.
Well if you are still reading at this point, thanks for hanging in there! Enjoy the end of summer!
Love & Hugs,
Chrissy, Bryan, Katie & Liam xoxoxoxo
