Liam is One Month Old!!

The first month has come & gone already - in a hazy blur of tiredness, but it was great nonetheless. We were so lucky with the timing of Liam's arrival that Bryan was able to stay home the first 2 weeks, and we were able to spend that time getting to know our new little man. Then I had a week at home just myself & the children, to start to adjust and get a taste of the future. We had a great turnout at our open house for all our family and friends in town to meet Liam. Then Grandma arrived for 5 days - it was fantastic to have her here - she was very helpful and I enjoyed the company during the day time.

We had planned and hoped to get out to Gabbi's tree during the spring like weather this past weekend, but Liam had a couple rough nights of sleep, leading to a very tired Mommy, so unfortunately we were unable to follow through with our plan. Although it is a bit upsetting that we have not been able to dedicate time to remembering her yet, we know that we will with spring right around the corner. Lately they have been playing her song on the radio frequently, as the artist, Crystal Shawanda, recently was in town for a concert. Katie knows the song well & will let me know when it comes on the radio by announcing "Gabbi's song Mommy". She certainly is always with us.

To celebrate Liam's fist month birthday he slept 6 hours, so Mommy got to sleep for 5! Wow do you ever feel like a new person on 5 solid hours of sleep. He is also taking a bottle nicely, and we have been able to figure out that 3-4oz of pumped milk fills him up nicely - so I am looking forward to me first outing where I don't have to watch the clock for fear that Bryan is having a meltdown because Liam is starving! Grandma may be back at the end of this month, if so we are hoping to escape for dinner alone!!

At his checkup yesturday the little man is weighing in at 8lbs 13oz (7lbs 8oz at birth & 2 wks) - so he is chunking up & growing out of the newborn size clothes. He is also holding his head up quite well and can squirm himself around quite effectively when lying down. He is our little cuddle bug for sure, happiest when he is being held & able & willing to communicate this desire.
