Getting ready

38 weeks and counting... oh yeah and waiting....
My first day off work (Friday the 16th) I was in complete nesting mode - finished painting the trim in the nursery, moved the furniture around, cleaned, made cookies and a freezer meal and had Bryan & Katie set up the crib (which only involved raising the mattress). I also finished sewing the valance and recovering the lamp shade for the nursery. There are still some decorative things to do but it is functional in there. It was a productive day & I felt good about getting those things done. Since then I have certainly slowed down, but there is not much else to do.
Last week saw afternoon naps with Katie and scrapbooking. We have gotten all our supplies ready for our planned water birth and I am pacing myself by doing a load of baby laundry per week. This week we have a bit more going on, gettign in some visiting, appointments and storytime. Katie & I are spending some quality time together before her world as an only child comes crashing down around her!
I have started with my pre-labour ritual of hours of daily contractions in the evenings - which are hopefully moving things along. Babe is not allowed (according to everyone but me) to arrive this week as our wonderful doulas & friends are out of town until Saturday morning, Bryan has the big annual Professional Development day on Friday (at which I am supposed to run a wellness session) and our midwife has larangitis and another client whose water broke yesturday. So... Bryan and Katie have put in their request to baby to come on Monday ...oh yes - Sunday is Superbowl so preferrably no babe or labour until game is over. I have no intuition as to when baby is coming but want to seriously hurt Bryan every time he says the baby will be at least a week late. I must get Bryan to take an updated belly picture and will post it when I do.

A rare moment of sibling love between Katie & Mia
