FUNDED MIDWIFERY!!

We are so so so pleased, today the Alberta government announced that it will fund Midwifery care for pregnant women in Alberta. Effective April 2009 any pregnant woman can choose the care of a midwife, including birth at home, in a birth centre or in a hospital & the $3500 fee will be covered by AB Health!! It is a monumental day for the birth community and pregnanct women in Alberta. We can say, after 2 pregnancies and coming up on our second birth, cared for and attended by midwives it is worth EVERY penny it has cost us, however, it has not been easy & there are soooo many women out there who just could not afford this service. Too bad the funding doesn't begin until 2 months after this babe is due:(
